Dragons
Pre-order
Description
The East Asian dragon appeared over 5,000 years ago. Small as a silkworm, immense as a rainbow, its hybrid and polymorphous body has never ceased to unfold across the arts, imbued with multiple cosmological, political and popular meanings. The embodiment of the "breath of heaven" and master of the waters, this prestigious creature was the imperial emblem and, to this day, the intermediary between humans and heavenly blessings. Hidden in stormy clouds, aquatic depths and mountains, dragons wait to take flight, charged with universal life energy. This book, produced in partnership with the National Palace Museum in Taipei (Taiwan), presents a history of dragon iconography from prehistory to the present day.
