A businesswoman and founder of a cosmetic empire, Helena Rubinstein (1872-1965) brought together an eclectic art collection for her lifetime, making her one of the most important collectors and patrons of the first half of the 20th century. From this vertiginous accumulation, African art and, to a lesser extent, the Oceanic, Amerindian and Indonesian arts constitute the most remarkable ensemble - a set that "Madame" has displayed and directed in her interiors, and which has been dispersed after his death during historical auctions.
This book, which testifies to the central place of these objects in the life of Helena Rubinstein and traces their journey, tells the unpublished story of this collection. (Quai Branly Museum, From Tuesday, November 19, 2019 to Sunday, June 28, 2020)
