Dedicated to the most remarkable statuary works kept in the collections of the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, the album Statues presents, under the direction of Yves Le Fur, around one hundred works from Africa, Oceania, the Americas and Southeast Asia.
Documented and richly illustrated, the book looks at statuary through what is most immediate: line, volume, material and colour. The collection includes almost one hundred works-reproduced across a full page and accompanied by short notes-chosen for their formal inventiveness, the diversity of their materials and uses, and their distinctive character.
Following the publication of Masterpieces in 2006 and Masks in 2008, the Statues album extends the range of publications dedicated to the museum's collections.
