Burn your favorite Japanese incense in this elegant cast iron incense burner! It was made in Morioka, Japan by the family-owned company Iwachu, a leader in the cast iron industry for over 100 years.
The lotus flower represents purity of body and soul. Allegorically, the muddy water in which the lotus grows is a symbol of attachment and carnal desires, while the immaculate flower that emerges represents the promise of salvation of the soul. Legend has it that when the Buddha took his first steps, lotus flowers grew wherever he set foot.
The lotus is also associated with longevity, and for good reason: seeds found in the Chinese province of Liaoning germinated after having remained dormant for more than 1,300 years!
