This book, reflection of the permanent collections, invites to an aesthetic walk through the arts of Africa, Oceania, Asia and the Americas.
The pieces (nearly 80 masterpieces) come mostly from the Museum of Man and the National Museum of Arts of Africa and Oceania. Many recent acquisitions as well as depots complete this selection of flagship objects, rich in their diversity and their plastic quality.
All typologies are represented: sculptures, masks, textiles, musical instruments, ritual and daily objects. Throughout the pages, accompanied by clear and concise notes, the reader is invited to discover an anthology of emblematic works: the Hei-tiki pendant (Maori), the mask with the image of the hare (Dogon), the couple of twins ibeji (Yoruba), the shaman costume (Évenk) or the coat of the "bison dance" (Mississippi Valley).
