"At the origin of this issue, there is the transcultural artistic program of the Royaumont Foundation: in this Cistercian abbey on the borders of the Val d'Oise, an unclassifiable music, called "transcultural", has been created for two decades. Artists from different traditions work together over a long period of time, punctuated by several residencies, to produce a common musical creation. But is it enough for a cultural operator to summon a few American and Iraqi veterans to seal the reconciliation of the two enemy countries? Would cultural actors pretend to believe in their speeches as Paul Veyne's Greeks believed in their myths or my son in Santa Claus: just to please us?"
