In Bison Tactics, the two players have different goals: the player who controls the buffalo tries to get one of his animals to the other side of the board. The other player's goal is to prevent them from passing by catching them with his Indian chief or stopping them with his dogs.
Place the 11 buffalo on one side of the board, in a straight line behind one of the rivers, and just in front of the other river, place the Indian Chief with his dogs on either side. At the end of the round, the roles are reversed. The first to win a round on both sides wins the game.
